Housing History

This line of research takes the history of housing and dwelling practices as a fruitful ground to test interdisciplinary approaches and experiment with methodologies, practices, and sources of historical research. Crossing multiple scales and design cultures - from the study of domesticity to territorial transformation processes - the doctoral dissertations will use housing history as an observation point to discuss broader trends that affect the history of architecture, urban design, landscape, and planning. The theme originates in a set of international exchanges framework and reflects recent tendencies in the historical inquiry of housing practices, theories, policies, and cultures.
