The thematic line promotes research and doctoral dissertations on the methods of architectural and urban history, on the respective cultural strategies and recurring narratives. In this framework it proposes to investigate the trajectories of militant historians of architecture and the city who lived during the twentieth century and are still waiting for an adequate historicization.

Special attention is devoted to reconstructing the social environments and broader intellectual contexts in which historical interpretations and evaluations have been produced and circulated, highlighting the indissoluble (and inevitable) intertwining between personal research itineraries and contemporary interests which has always characterized the history of architecture and the city.
