Biography
Maths has always been my favourite subject and over the years my passion for it has grown more and more. Theory is, in my opinion, the best starting point in order to have the tools to solve problems, but what I am really interested in is learning how to apply what I have been studying to real issues in order to solve them in the best way possible. During my studies at the Mathematics Department of Turin, I have had the chance to study all the mathematical fields, from the theoretical aspects to the more applied ones. I have really found interesting the versatility and the applicability of mathematics in all kinds of contexts and this is exactly why I chose to focus my Bachelor’s thesis defence on the analysis of a theoretical statistical model applied to neuroscience studies. The passion and curiosity to the applied fields of Maths led me to decide to continue my studies in this direction and join the Master’s Degree in Stochastics and Data Science of the Mathematics Department of Turin. Here, I had the chance to get in touch with all the recent studies of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science such as neural networks, machine learning and MCMC optimization for bayesian inference. Since the latter particularly drawn my attention, I decided to collaborate for my thesis' project with the Informatic Department of Basel (CH) on the application of a bayesian model for 3D face reconstruction from a single 2D synthetic image. Attracted by both neuroscience applications and artificial neural networks, I am currently working at the Politecnico of Turin in my PhD project on neuro-inspired networks applied to machine learning problems such as pattern recognition and reconstruction. At the same time, since biomedical applications have always fascinated me, I am collaborating with a spin-off of the Politecnico of Turin for the development of artificial intelligence algorithms applied in the dermatological field.
