Abstract
The general goal is to study the broad spectrum of HMI designs that can be adopted to address two major industrial needs about autonomous driving: how to cope with the lack of trust towards the vehicle, and how to deal with motion sickness to let users engage comfortably in non-driving tasks. Since causes for the two phenomena are closely related and solutions proposed so far appear to be incomplete, strategies to cope with them need to be conceived and tested in a holistic way.
