He graduated from the I.I.S. Fermi-Galilei scientific high school with 100 cum laude in 2016. The same year, he enrolled in the Biomedical Engineering Faculty of the Politecnico di Torino, where he also joined the Young Talents Programme. He got a bachelor’s degree (September 2019) and, later, a master’s degree (December 2021) in Biomedical Engineering - Bionanotechnology specialist pathway at the Politecnico di Torino, both with a final grade of 110 cum laude. He also obtained a Double Degree from the Biomedical Engineering Faculty of the Politecnico di Milano as part of the Alta Scuola Politecnica (ASP) programme.
As part of the ASP programme, he also joined the PNRelay 2.020 Project, which aimed to develop a fully implantable, highly compact neural interface to detect peripheral nerve activity in neuroprosthetics.
He performed a master's thesis in the PolitoBIOMed Lab - Biomedical Engineering Lab under the supervision of Professor Gianluca Ciardelli and Clara Mattu (from the Politecnico di Torino) and Professor Gabriele Candiani (from Politecnico di Milano). His work focused on designing vascularized glioblastoma models and nanomedicines against this tumour.
In January 2022, he got a position as a Post-graduate Fellow under the supervision of Professor Ciardelli and, then, as a PhD student (November 2022) under Professor Mattu.
His work has focused on developing and validating transport systems for small molecules and other chemotherapeutic agents to overcome biological barriers to delivery and increase treatment efficacy against brain tumours.
He is developing a spheroid-based model of glioblastoma capable of replicating the histological complexity of the tumour microenvironment. He is also optimizing the integration of this model with microfluidic platforms that replicate the vascular network of brain capillaries.
He is involved in the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles for drug delivery. He is studying microglia cell-based transport systems to facilitate the penetration of nanomedicines through the blood-brain barrier and increase accumulation in glioblastoma.
He is co-supervising 2 master’s thesis students in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Genomic Medicine (IIGM) of Torino.
