Biografia

Andrea Querio is a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT) of Politecnico di Torino. He holds a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering with a thesis focused on the modelling of co-precipitation process of Ni-Mn-Co hydroxides as precursors of cathode active material for Lithium-ion cells. After the graduation, he started a period as Research Assistant in the Multiscale Modelling for Materials Science and Process Engineering (MulMoPro) group continuing the research of his thesis project in the context of the SimDOME European Project, enriching it with experiments regarding all steps ranging from hydroxide synthesis to electrochemical characterization of NMC batteries. During this period, he published one paper with the title of “Comparison between Compartment and Computational Fluid Dynamics Models for Simulating Reactive Crystallization Processes” and co-authorized other two papers. In November 2023 Andrea started is PhD in Chemical Engineering at both, Electrochemistry Group and MulMoPro group, working on the characterization of cathodes for Lithium-Sulfur cells from both experimental and modelling points of view, with the goal of optimizing the electrochemical performances of the battery and seeking a deeper understanding of the chemical and physical processes that define the electrochemical performances of the cells. His project is in collaboration with Stellantis and during this project he spent six months at CEA research center of Grenoble.
