Biography

The study of prosthetics and medical devices by a biomechanical point of view fascinated me since my Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering in Florence. For this reason, I decided to enroll in the Master degree program in Biomedical Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino. Moreover, the experience enjoyed during my Master Thesis, at the Biomechanics and Implant Technology Research Laboratory (Forbiomit) in Rostock, thrilled me even more about biomechanics, leading me to start my career in this field of research. The experience as early-stage researcher and the first year of my PhD project enhanced my passion for biomechanics thanks to the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team with PhD students and researchers that share with me the same interests. Since my Master Thesis I adopted a combined in vitro-in silico approach to study the behavior of implantable medical devices; this double vision of the same problem made me aware of the limits and the strengths of both approaches and the profit in a concomitant progress of these techniques.
