Biography

Martina Spinelli is a Ph.D. candidate in Management, Production and Design at the Department of Management and Production Engineering, Politecnico di Torino (University of Turin). Additionally, she collaborates with the Department of Architecture and Design (DAD) at the same institution, where she serves as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate course on Product Environmental Requirements as part of the Design program. A member of the Sys - Systemic Design Lab, she contributes to research on participatory methods and tools of systemic design for environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Her doctoral research focuses on the examination of how systemic design enables circular and sustainable ecosystems through collaboration and actor relations. These activities are part of the Nodes - North West Digital and Sustainable project, which is funded by PNRR. Another research interest pertains to the regeneration of marginal contexts through design and participatory processes. She holds a master's in Eco-Social Design from the Libera Università di Bolzano, where she developed a strong focus on design for social innovation and community-based practices. Her publications address co-design, systemic circularity, community practices, and smart packaging as a driver of sustainability in local and industrial contexts.
