Profile
Biography
I am Senior Researcher and Assistant Professor in Geography at this Polytechnic, and Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Geography and Environment, London School of Economics, UK. I am part of the ERC-funded Inhabiting Radical Housing project team and in the Core Team of the Beyond Inhabitation Lab (https://beyondinhabitation.org/). After a PhD in Geography at Queen Mary University of London, I held research and teaching positions at the London School of Economics, Durham University and Northumbria University, UK, and at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, Spain, on a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship. I am also co-founder and editor of the Radical Housing Journal. My research focuses on housing precarity, temporary and platform urbanism, and struggles for housing alternatives. It deploys qualitative methods to investigate the precarization of urban space and living, collective resistance and self-organization. My research in the UK and Spain is interdisciplinary and often collaborative, incorporating approaches and methods from urban and cultural geography, spatial planning, visual culture, and housing studies. In addition to articles and chapters in various international journals, I am the author of the monograph The Permanence of Temporary Urbanism: Normalising Precarity in Austerity London (Amsterdam University Press, 2021).
