Biography

Luca Marmo is associete professor at the Polytechnic of Turin, SSD ING/IND 25. He has taught in the SSD ING/IND 24 and 25. He holds the chair of Safety of Industrial Processes at the Polytechnic of Turin, of fires and explosions in the Master in Forensic Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Turin and in the Degree Course in Prevention Techniques in Workplaces of the University of Turin. He has carried out research in the field of chemical reactors, industrial safety and biological processes. He has carried out experimental activities on multi-phase gas-fluid reactors, conducting fluid dynamics, gas mixing and heterogeneous chemical reaction studies. He worked on the fluid-dynamic modeling of the same. He also worked on fluid bed drying processes, fluid dynamics of gas-liquid reactors. He mainly studies dust explosions. He has developed the experimental center for the safety of the explosive atmospheres of the Polytechnic of Turin, which conducts experimental research on dust explosion phenomena. The centre also conducts usual commercial activities for third parties. He dealt with the production of biopolymers from waste from the agro-food industry. He has participated in several research programs financed by public bodies (Prin, Regione Piemonte, MISE) and private (Cesi, Mossi Ghisolfi group, Italgas, Tecsa). He has extensive experience in Forensic Engineering as he is a consultant to numerous courts and prosecutors throughout Italy as part of investigations concerning industrial accidents including ThyssenKrupp, Umbria Oli, Molino Cordero, etc. It is a member of Supervisory Bodies of some of the highest national industrial groups
