Biography

Jowita Aleksandra Tabak is an architect, researcher, and PhD candidate at the Politecnico di Torino, specializing in Architecture. History and Project. Her doctoral thesis, Contemporary Garden City, supervised by Prof. Elena Vigliocco, is supported by a PNRR scholarship within the FULL | Future Urban Legacy Lab project, Turin and its rivers. She also serves as the Representative of PhD candidates in her program, fostering collaboration and academic dialogue.
She is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Faculty of Architecture, Warsaw University of Technology (WAPW), under the supervision of Prof. Justyna Zdunek-Wielgolaska. Jowita’s professional experience includes roles as Junior Inspector at the Heritage Preservation Office in Ruda Slaska, Architect at AD83 Court Architettura in Turin, and intern at WWAA in Warsaw.
She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture Heritage Preservation and Enhancement from the Politecnico di Torino, with a thesis titled Border Scenery of Klodzko Land: Interrogating Border Relations with People and Space, supervised by Prof. Camillo Boano. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree from WAPW, focusing on adaptive reuse in modernist architecture.
Jowita has contributed to education and research as an assistant at the International Summer School of Regional Lab (2024) organized by the National Institute of Architecture and Urbanism (NIAiU) in Poland. She has also participated in international workshops, including Lust for Life (2019) by TU Berlin and WAPW, and What about Praga? (2019) by WAPW.
