Research topics

  • Calculation of the dynamic response of bladed discs in the presence of flutter (self-excited vibrations). Determination of the vibration limit amplitude of the turbine blades in the presence of non-linearity due to friction joints. Flutter stabilization techniques by means of mistuning.
  • Damping properties of bolted joints, experimental characterization, identification and simulation
  • Design of passive vibration dampers by means of friction, mainly in aircraft propulsion systems.
  • Reduction techniques of large finite element models, in particular applied to mistuning of bladed discs (asymmetries in the array of blades of a turbine disc).
  • Structural dynamics of aeronautical components, rotating and not rotating, mainly of the turbine module and accessory gearbox. Linear and non-linear dynamic behavior in mechanical systems assembled by means of friction joints.
