Biography

Anna Proskuriakova is an architect and urban planner. She holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy Design from Politecnico di Milano and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. She also studied at École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville (ENSAPB).
Anna has extensive academic experience as a teaching assistant at Politecnico di Milano, contributing to urbanism and master planning studios. Her work spans both professional practice and research, with involvement in architectural competitions and international workshops. Her achievements include a Golden Mention in the Kid’s Factory competition (YAC) and a Special Mention U35 in the competition Di-Segnare il Territorio (The Italy-Switzerland Cooperation Projec).
Anna's research focuses on urban transformation and the adaptive reuse of existing building stock. She is particularly interested in critical issues such as contemporary urbanization, material extraction, and climate change, viewing urban design as a strategic tool for advancing ecological and social justice. Additionally, she explores the role of small-scale, decentralized spaces in fostering community engagement, participatory decision-making, and spatial politics, particularly in the context of socio-ecological transitions. In her work, she aims to examine how communities can gain greater access to resources, integrate into the mainstream economy, and benefit from improved governance.
