Biography
Andrea Colucci (born August 22nd, 2000) is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Management and Production Engineering (DIGEP) of Politecnico di Torino. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in September 2022, and his master's degree cum laude in Mechanical Engineering - Additive Manufacturing in October 2024, both from Politecnico di Torino. During his master's thesis, he worked at the Integrated Additive Manufacturing (IAM) interdepartmental centre of Politecnico di Torino, analysing the behaviour of low-volume-fibre, additively manufactured, thermoplastic-based carbon fibre composites under harsh environmental conditions. After graduation, he continued working at the IAM centre as a research fellow from November 2024 to March 2025, when he began his PhD fellowship at DIGEP, Polito.
His research interests revolve around the use of advanced additive manufacturing (AM) techniques, such as Powder Bed Fusion with Electron Beam (PBF-EB) and Continuous Filament Fabrication (CFF) to produce both metallic and composites high-performing material, with local customisation of their mechanical, thermal, or electrical properties.
His work involves practical experimentation, as well as the development and implementation of numerical methods to predict the behaviour of processes and materials under non-standard conditions.
