Biography

Aldo Boglietti received his doctor degree (Laurea) in Electrical Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino in 1981. He jointed the Electrical Engineering Department of the Politecnico di Torino as researcher in electrical machines and drives since 1 August 1984, and he was associated professor since 1 November 1992. He is now full professor in the same Department. His research activity in the electrical machines and drive has involved the following fields: energetic problems in electrical machines with main supply (high efficiency motors) energetic problems in electrical machines with inverter supply (losses analysis and derating methodologies) energetic application and energetic problems of electrical drives energetic behavior of magnetic materials with particular interest on their use in electrical machines energetic behavior of magnetic materials with inverter supply

Aldo Boglietti is a Full Professor in Electrical Machines at Politecnico di Torino (Italy). He started his research activity with the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino as researcher in Electrical Machines in 1984. He became Associated Professor in Electrical Machines in 1992 and Full professor in 2000. He was the Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at the same university, for the period 2003-2011.

Consultant expert:

2019-present (ABB Railway Traction) and 2021-present (Volvo)

Prof. Boglietti as expert in thermal analysis to support the design of electrical motors used in heavy railway traction by ABB Sweden and automotive traction for Volvo Sweden, Very high speed induction motors for Agilent Technologies (former Varian), High efficiency induction motor design for Fimet srl Italy and Sicme Motori srl Italy .

Principal honors: IEEE Fellow, 2012, for “contributions to analysis of magnetic materials and AC electrical machines.”
