Biography

Alberto Butera is a passionate software engineer currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at the Department of Control and Computer Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy. His passion for the world of decentralisation and blockchain led him to pursue his Ph.D. in order to contribute to research in this field, with the aim of promoting the adoption of this technology.

His journey into the blockchains began during his undergraduate studies, where he first approached blockchain during his internship by developing a smart contract for the Ethereum blockchain that would generate an ERC-20 corporate token. After completing his Master's degree in Computer Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino in 2022, with a thesis on the translation of legal contracts from natural language to smart contracts, he started his Ph.D. on ''Blockchain Technology for Intelligent Vehicles''.

His current research focuses on studying the impact of blockchain technology in the context of intelligent vehicles and the automotive supply chain, in order to analyse the added value and limitations of this technology, as well as the most promising solutions for disintermediated communication between vehicles and for data storage.
