Biography

Giovanni Distefano, MD, is a proactive and committed young surgeon specializing in colorectal surgery, with a strong interest in transanal procedures. He holds a Master’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Vita- Salute San Raffaele University in Milan (grade: 110/110) and completed with honors his General Surgery Residency at the University of Turin (grade: 70/70 cum laude), where he focused on risk factors for rectal cancer recurrence post-Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery. Currently, he is enrolled in a PhD program in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences at the Politecnico of Turin. Known for his dedication, teamwork, and eagerness to learn, Giovanni is actively involved in research, with several studies in gastrointestinal surgery published in prominent journals. He is also a Junior Member of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery, and regularly presents his research at international conferences. His qualifications are reinforced by advanced English proficiency (C1) and certifications in life-saving protocols. He has a strong passion for football and a deep interest in travel, always eager to explore local cultures and traditions.
