Biography

Elisa Pochettino obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) in July 2022. She then earned her Master’s Degree cum laude in Biomedical Engineering from the same institution in December 2024. Her Master’s thesis, titled “Development of biomimetic 3D biphasic cardiac models for in vitro studies”, was conducted within the European project ALTERNATIVE and focused on designing cardiac in vitro models capable of replicating young and mature myocardial conditions for toxicological assessments. The project was supervised by Prof. Gianluca Ciardelli, Dr. Federico Vozzi, Dr. Salvador Fernandez-Arroyo and Andrea Alliaud, and included collaborative activities at Politecnico di Torino, the Institute of Clinical Physiology–National Research Council (Pisa, Italy), and EURECAT (Reus, Spain).
After graduating, she held a post-graduate Research Fellowship at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia within the PNRR project HEAL Italia, carrying out her research activities at the Bioinside Lab of Politecnico di Torino. Her work focused on the development of innovative polymeric materials for bone tissue engineering scaffolds.
She is currently a PhD candidate in the Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences program at Politecnico di Torino, where she continues her research on tissue engineering, biomimetic materials and the development of engineered in vitro models.
