Biography

The objective of this PhD project is to design, model, and experimentally validate a new electrically excited synchronous machine (HS-EESM) for electric vehicle applications. The candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts in e-motor design, mechanical engineering, and power electronics at the Power Electronics Innovation Center (PEIC) of PoliTO, in collaboration with Stellantis-CRF.
The main research activities will be carried out at PoliTO. In addition, the PhD student will spend a research period for 6 months at Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), focusing on the numerical and experimental characterization of an EESM prototype. This prototype will serve as a benchmark for the development and validation of mechanical, thermal, and electromagnetic models.
The plan is as follows:
Year 1: Machine design and finite element validation.
Year 2: Experimental testing and model validation.
Year 3: Optimization and thesis writing.
