Biography
Giuseppe De Nisco got the PhD in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences from Politecnico di Torino in 2018, working in the Computational and Experimental Cardiovascular Biomechanics Unit (Leader: Prof. Umberto Morbiducci) of Industrial Bioengineering research group. After the PhD he carried on his research activities as a post-doctoral fellow at Politecnico di Torino. In 2018 he worked as Visiting Researcher at the Department of Cardiology, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, the Netherlands in the research group of Prof. Jolanda J. Wentzel. From 2022 he is an Assistant Professor in Industrial Bioengineering at Politecnico di Torino. He was awarded a ESB Travel Award in 2019 from the European Society of Biomechanics, and a VPH Young Researcher Participation Award and a VPH Young Investigator Presentation Award in 2020 from the Virtual Physiological Human Committee. He contributed to the coordination activities of 3 Post-Doctoral research fellows, 5 PhD students, and 40+ graduate students in Biomedical Engineering. He is author of 28 publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, and several conference papers. He was involved in research projects in the framework of biomedical engineering, involving both engineering and medical units (National projects: CECOMES (MIUR 2020) - IRMI (MIUR); European project: InSiDe (EU)). His current research focuses on elucidating the associations between blood fluid mechanics, vascular morphometry and cardiovascular disease development, diagnosis and treatment; the clinical translation of these associations; the design and optimization of cardiovascular devices and surgical techniques.
