(Area 0002 - Physical sciences)

Research topics

  • Study of fundamental physics by exploiting high energy collisions provided by the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva. Characterization of the state of matter created in such collisions, called Quark Gluon Plasma to better understand fundamental interactions among particles. Development of simulation and data analysis tools, using C++ and Python languages and adopting machine learning approaches in the field of particle and nuclear physics. Development of pixel sensors for the tracking of particles emitted in the collisions and with a timing resolution of the order of few tenth of picoseconds.
