Biography
Gabriele Bertagnoli is Associate Professor at the Department of Structural, Building and Geotechnical Engineering (DISEG) of Politecnico di Torino, where he has been conducting research and teaching since 2004. He obtained his PhD in Structural Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2003 and his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering in 2000. His research focuses mainly on structural health monitoring of civil infrastructures, nonlinear analysis and safety formats for concrete structures, design of prestressed and composite steel-concrete bridges, early-age behaviour of concrete in massive castings, and development of innovative embedded stress sensors. He is the author of 30 papers in international journals, 6 book chapters, 78 contributions in conference proceedings and 3 patents. He has led numerous research projects funded by both public and private bodies and is a member of working groups of the fib (Fédération Internationale du Béton). In 2006 he received the Best PhD Thesis Award in the field of concrete structures at the 6th International PhD Symposium in Zurich. In terms of teaching, he is the instructor of structural design courses at Master's level and has supervised 101 Master's degree theses and 5 PhD theses. He serves as Dean for Academic Internships and ERASMUS+ Traineeship Referent for the Civil Engineering Degree Programme at Politecnico di Torino.
