Biography

Laura Gozzelino earned a Master’s degree in Physics at the University of Torino and a PhD in Metrology at Politecnico di Torino. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Science and Technology of Politecnico di Torino. Her research activity has been mainly focused on the study of the electromagnetic properties of superconducting materials (cuprate, MgB2, low-Tc and iron-based superconductors), with the aim to investigate both fundamental and applicative topics. The main investigated topics include: - the influence of intrinsic and extrinsic (i.e. ion-irradiation induced) defects on the phase diagram as well as on the vortex dynamics of the superconducting materials with the evaluation of parameters such as critical current density, irreversibility temperature, critical fields, penetration length; - the magnetic flux shielding and trapping by superconducting and hybrid layouts, the latter exploiting the magnetic properties of both superconducting and ferromagnetic materials. LG’s research activity required the fulfillment of measurement tasks involving different characterization techniques (in particular she was in charge for the setting-up of cryogenic facilities for electric transport measurements and Hall probe scanning magnetometry), as well as data analysis and the interpretation of the experimental results in the context of established theories and ad-hoc developed models. In the last few years she has also been involved in a numerical modeling activity mainly focused on investigating magnetic field and current distribution in superconducting bulk materials. LG is associated to the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). LG’s scientific activity is acknowledged by more than 190 peer-reviewed papers reported on WoS/Scopus platforms. She was invited speaker in several international conferences and involved in more than 30 international and national research programs/projects, even in leading role.
