Biography

Graduated from "l'Ecole Supérieure de l'Energie et des Matériaux" of Orléans (France) in Materials engineering in 1992. He received his Ph.D. in the same field in 1997. He occupied a post-doc position at the University of Limoges between 1998 and 1999. He was research assistant in Materials Science and Technology since November 1999 and Associate professor of the same discipline since November 2006 at the Politecnico di Torino. Full professor of Materials Science and Technology since March 2023. His current research fields are dealing with ceramic gas and humidity sensors for air quality monitoring as well as binders with enhanced durability and low environmental impact. He is the author or co-author of more than 170 papers on national and international journals and conference proceedings and co-author of two Italian and of a Spanish patent on gas sensors. Co-author of an international patent ("Pipeline inspection gauge for the internal inspection of pipelines", patent number WO2013102807 A2). He is also a co-author of two Italian patents on concrete having an enhanced toughness and on geopolymers prepared from stone muds. He is currently titular of courses in Materials Science and Technology since 2000 at the Bachelor and at the Master level in graduation courses in Architecture, as well as at the Bachelor level in the course of Civil and environmental engineering. He was a member of the Teaching Board of the PhD course in "Cultural Heritage" from Politecnico di Torino from 2008 to 2014. He is currently a member of the Teaching Board of the PhD course in “Materials Science and Technology” from Politecnico di Torino since 2014. Editorial Board Member of the journal Materials (MDPI) for the section "Construction and Building Materials".
