Cristina Pronello

• Data collection through innovative technologies. Smartphones to track mobility, IoT to collect mobility patterns. Modelling mobility patterns through big data analysis.
• Environmental impacts of transport systems. This line of research has evolved along the years, since the PhD period, thanks to the collaboration in several international research projects as well as to several periods spent abroad at INRETS (Institut National de Recherche sur les Transports et leur Sécurité), now IFSTTAR (Institut français des sciences et technologies des transports, de l’aménagement et des réseaux), and at Université Lumière Lyon 2. Such activities led to several publications, amongst them, those on TRD, on IJAV, on the books of the series "Advances in Transport", on Transport Reviews, and two chapters of the book Integrated assessment of environmental impact of traffic and transport infrastructure.
• Travel behaviour and ITS, crosscut by the common issue of the sustainable mobility. Study of users’ behaviour to define proper transport policies for a sustainable mobility, related to data collection on travel behaviour and accessibility and to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), using quantitative statistical methods as well as qualitative methods to analyse data. Pro-environment behaviour is one of the main topics investigated and the influence of technology on travel behaviour. Such experience in surveys has allowed to participate to the writing and update of the “Travel Survey Manual”, published in USA in 2009 by the Transportation Research Board (she is co-author of Chapter 14), and led to the book Muoversi in città. Mobilità, accessibilità e equità sociale nella metropoli contemporanea (Ed. Franco Angeli), to the publications of articles in TRR, in Transportation Planning and Technology, in Transport Policy, in Journal of Transport Geography and in Transportation, among others.
