Biography

MS, ELECTRICAL ENGINEEERING, Politecnico di Torino, July 1992. REGISTERED ENGINEER FROM 1992. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR from 1995 to 2004, in the Electrical Engineering Department of Politecnico di Torino. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR – scientific sector ING-IND/32 Power Converter, Electric Machine and Drive, from January 2005, 1st Engineering Faculty - Electrical Engineering Department of Politecnico di Torino. DIDACTIC AND ORGANISING ACTIVITY Luca Ferraris began his didactic activity from the academic year 1993/94; he has proceeded up to now with a complete didactic activity: lessons, thesis, stages. Luca Ferraris is member of several academic boards or committees. He is in charge for the courses of Electrical Machines (in Italian and English language). Starting from 2000 has been responsible of the didactic organization of the Alessandria site of Politecnico. He is responsible for the consulting and research activities of the Electrical Engineering Laboratories of the Alessandria site of Politecnico. Has been organizer and Responsibleof the Master “SYSTEMS FOR INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION: APPLIED PROJECT”, 24 months (2011-2012), financed by Piedmont Region. SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY The basic fields of interest of Luca Ferraris mainly concern: • the development of non conventional Electric Vehicles • the Photo Voltaic energy • Asynchronous drives • Energetic behaviour of machines • ElectroMagnetic Compatibility • New materials for the realization of electrical machines • Renewable energies. The research activity is documented by about 60 papers published on International Journals and on International Conference Records. Luca Ferraris has taken part and takes part in different research consultant activities committed by industrial enterprises. He has been responsible for more than 50 consultants regarding the environmental impact of mobile phone stations, and the EMC problem solutions of different industries.
