Biography

- 1987: Degree in Aeronautical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, with a final grade of 110/110 cum Laude. Thesis: Numerical analysis of the transonic 2D inviscid flows about airfoils. -1988-89: Research Scholar at Polytechnic University, NY, USA. -1992: PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. Thesis: Numerical Simulation of Hypersonic Reacting Flows in Chemical Nonequilibrium. Thesis advisor: Professor Maurizio Pandolfi, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Politecnico di Torino, Italy. - 1991: University Researcher at Department of Aerospace Engineering of Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy. - 1994 - 1995: Visiting Scientist at ICASE - NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA, USA . - 2001 - present: Associate Professor in Aerospace Propulsion Politecnico di Torino. Research topics for prof. Marsilio can be summarized as follow: - compressible Flows; - numerical simulation of external and internal aerodynamics problems; - non-equilibrium reacting flows (Hypersonic Flows); - turbulence/shocks interaction; - Aerodynamics project of advance nozzle for aerospace propulsion; - Inverse problems; - Transient simulation of turbo-jet engines; - Active control systems for boundary layer separation. - Combustion. - Supersonic combustion; - Fluid Dynamics models for automotive industry; - Fluidic Thrust Vectoring for launchers and supersonic aircrafts Through all these years prof. Marsilio has been involved in research projects with national an private research center, like: European Comunity, ASI, MURST, Regione Piemonte, Avio Group, Alenia Aeronautica, Magnetto, Molle e Balestra.
