Biography
Koshika earned her Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Aerospace Engineering from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, India (2017–2021). Her bachelor’s thesis, Feasibility Study of Radially Split Co-Planar Differential RPM Blisks as Turbofan Engine Inlet Fans, led to two publications and placed her among the top five students of her cohort. She received the SRM Merit Scholarship for two consecutive years and co-authored four research papers during her undergraduate studies.
She pursued her Laurea Magistrale in Energy and Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Torino (Nov 2021– Jul 2024), specialising in Renewable Energy Systems. Her master’s thesis, Boosting Adhesive Joint Strength: Experimental Study on Chemical Etching of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers, explored a novel approach to enhance mechanical performance in structurally bonded CFRP joints. During her degree, she conducted research on chemical etching, adhesive bonding, and mechanical/material characterisation of joints. Koshika was a three-time recipient of a research grant (Nov 2023– Mar 2025) from Politecnico di Torino to conduct research in the GLANCE Laboratories for joining of CFRPs and CMCs. She also held the EDISU scholarship throughout her master's studies, and was a part of the winning team of Challenge @ POLITO by ENEL Green Power.
She has presented her research at international events and conferences. Her academic travel has been supported by three competitive grants: funded by FISA/SNETP Forum (May 2025), selection as one of ten PhD students funded by the JECS Trust to attend the Slovak and Czech Glass Conference (Nov 2025), and selection among 30 PhD and postdoctoral researchers across Europe for the 2026 ECerS International Ceramist Student Exchange Program (Dec 2025). She also contributes to the scientific community as an organising member for Symposium 1 at the International Conference and Exposition on Advanced Ceramics and Composites (ICACC 2026) and has been invited to serve as a session chair.
Koshika Pandey is a member of the American Ceramic Society and WiN Global. Her research interests span CMC joining technologies, ceramics, glasses, mechanical characterisation of joints, localised heating techniques, and CFRP surface modification.
