Profile

Biography

Researcher (RTD-a) with experience in the development, optimization and experimental characterization of cement-based materials for innovative applications in the construction sector (including 3D Concrete Printing and ultra-lightweight materials for thermal insulation), as well as in the design and optimization of multifunctional building components. Research activities include the design and optimization of materials for additive manufacturing by extrusion (3D Concrete Printing), the development of ultra-lightweight cementitious materials (ultra-lightweight foamed concrete), the evaluation of rheological properties in the fresh state, and the assessment of mechanical, thermal, durability and microstructural performance in the hardened state. The objective is to develop, test and optimize more efficient and more sustainable materials and products for the construction industry. The PhD research, carried out with a thesis titled ‘Exploring 3D-printing with lightweight foamed concrete: material properties and potential application to produce multifunctional building components’, involved an extensive experimental campaign on the behavior of 3D-printed lightweight foamed concrete and subsequent scale-up activities through the development of prototype building components, produced and mechanically tested to evaluate their feasibility and structural potential.
