Biography

Andrea Ferraris was born in Asti, Italy. He earned his Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, graduating with a thesis titled “Development of an Artificial Intelligence-Based System for the Identification and Grading of Breast Cancer in Histological Images.”
From February 2021 to January 2022, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Politecnico di Torino, where he developed an AI-driven system for synthesizing cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) data into synthetic CT images. He also contributed to research on medical image segmentation, classification, and detection networks, supporting various projects within the Biolab group.
He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications at Politecnico di Torino, where he is specializing in ultrasound simulation, research on photorealistic avatars, and the study of large language models (LLMs). His research focuses on synthetic image generation, the development of ultrasound simulators, and the creation of innovative AI evaluation metrics, alongside advancements in computer vision models for image segmentation.
