Biography

I am Nicola Dilillo, a researcher in Smart Agriculture integrating advanced technologies to address key challenges in the agri-food sector. I completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Politecnico di Torino in Computer Engineering, specializing in Embedded Systems. I am pursuing a PhD in Computer and Control Engineering to improve farming practices' productivity, sustainability, and efficiency.

My research uses AI, sensors, and computer vision to optimize resource use and support agricultural decision-making. I use machine learning models like RNN, GRU, and LSTM to predict soil moisture, enabling smarter irrigation management and reducing water waste.

I also work on multispectral analysis to enhance plant health assessments by selecting key wavelengths, improving accuracy while reducing complexity. Additionally, I use deep learning with RGB and NIR imaging for weed detection, promoting precision farming and reducing chemical use.

I have investigated wireless communication in cold chain logistics, comparing RFID and Bluetooth for sensor data, showing Bluetooth's advantages in reliability and configurability.

I aim to develop smart systems that help farmers manage resources efficiently and sustainably.
