The centrality of applied technologies, at different levels, in the world of sports is the pivot around which new excellence and strategies of Politecnico are being developed at the international level.

Today, PoliTO Rector Stefano Corgnati, accompanied by Vice Rector for Internationalization Alberto Sapora, signed a collaboration agreement with the Uzbek State University of Physical Education and Sport: the starting point for a new synergy, part of the project to develop a University Center, with interdepartmental and international value, on “Engineering and Architecture for Sport.”

“Technological interaction with sports disciplines is among the cornerstones of the Politecnico's new strategic plan,” comments Rector Corgnati from Tashkent. ”With this in mind, a few days ago we signed an agreement with the University of Foro Italico, and today we are here to define an important collaboration with the Uzbek University, which trains not only their Olympic athletes, but is also a point of reference for the preparation of sportsmen and women from all over Central Asia."

“A project that confirms and reinforces the international and university vocation of our city,” adds Mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo, in Tashkent with the Rector on a visit to the TTPU - Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, which collaborates with PoliTO, ”and will help make it increasingly attractive to young people from all over the world."

PoliTO desire is to develop cutting-edge projects on the European university scene, with PoliTO at the forefront of providing innovative knowledge and technologies complementary to medical-sports: materials science, bioengineering, data analytics to measure and support athletes' performance, interventions in large infrastructures dedicated to sports, such as arenas and stadiums.

All PoliTO researchers' activities, both in Italy and abroad, will thus be systematized to create cutting-edge technological skills and solutions, and in this direction news PoliTO education paths are starting, with new multidisciplinary courses planned ad hoc.

The agreement between Politecnico and Uzbek State University of Physical Education and Sport was signed on the occasion of the institutional mission organized by the City of Turin in coordination with the Italian Embassy, which was attended, among others, by Mayor Stefano Lo Russo and Politecnico Rector Stefano Corgnati, as well as representatives of the business world.
