Politecnico got top marks by ANVUR

The report drawn up by ANVUR further to the periodic visit based on the Accreditation of University Sites and Degree Programmes for the Quality Assurance System in Universities awarded Politecnico di Torino with the “Fully Satisfactory” highest rating.

“We are the first University to obtain the highest rating of the ANVUR model (AVA3)- Rector Stefano Corgnati pointed out - and this is a source of great pride for our community, which firmly considers Quality as a fundamental principle for achieving excellence in its institutional missions”.

The publication of the ANVUR Report marks the end of a path that involved, through different units at different levels, the whole University for more than a year, culminating in the accreditation visit which began last February, with the CEV (Commission of Evaluation Experts) online interviews, which preceded the on-site visit last March.

In particular, 6 Degree Programmes (Environmental and Land Engineering L-7, Aerospace Engineering LM-20, Design and Communication L-4, Mechatronic Engineering LM-25, Chemical and Sustainable Processes Engineering LM-22 and Mathematics for Engineering L-35), 2 Doctoral Degree Programmes (Civil and Environmental Engineering, Aerospace Engineering) and 2 Departments (Environmental, Land and Infrastructure Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering) were involved in the evaluation. The quality of the PoliTo Campus and its infrastructure was assessed, as well.

The AVA system (Self-Assessment - Evaluation - Accreditation), as established by ANVUR, aims to improve the quality of education, research, the third mission/social impact and other institutional and management activities carried out in the Universities, through the implementation of a Quality Assurance (QA) model based on internal procedures for the design, management, self-assessment and improvement of educational and scientific activities and on an external verification carried out in a clear and transparent manner which results in an Accreditation rating.

The summary of the evaluation within the report recognized the University's central role in local development processes: "The CEV noted in general some dominant traits that characterize the key themes of the Evaluation Site with reference to the Evaluation Scopes, such as the role of the University at a local level and the ability to identify and interact with the main stakeholders (internal and external), the consistency between the planning documents at different levels and their effective use in the management, a tradition in the use, by the governing bodies and the various University units, of data and analyses to support decision-making with particular attention and in regard to strategic planning processes, which led to a solid management control system organized across various functions, a deep sense of belonging and the fundamental participation of the technical, administrative and librarian staff in all processes.

“I would like to thank the whole PoliTo community for this excellent collective result, which has its foundations in the previous rectoral mandate, and in particular special thanks to all those who have personally collaborated in various ways to reach this important university achievement; I would also like to thank the single units and offices which were assessed and the PoliTo governance teams who, with the Director-General, coordinated the activities with the operational support of the Quality Assurance Unit -continues the Rector Stefano Corgnati. The conclusion of this evaluation process is an opportunity to root even more the culture of quality in a path of enhancement of the value in all PoliTo system’s areas”.
