More than 13% of total PoliTO faculty among “World's 2% Top Scientists” according to Stanford

PoliTO scientists stand out, as they’re recognized among the best in the world for the high impact of their scientific productivity: in fact, 158 Politecnico faculty members are on the list of “2% Top Scientists” drawn up by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, using bibliometric data extracted from the “Scopus” citation database. A number that appears to be growing steadily - last year the University's professors on the list were 139, in the previous 128.

“This is undoubtedly an excellent result for Politecnico, which confirms not only the quality of our research but also highlights the its visibility at the international level - commented Rector Stefano Corgnati, who continues – At the same time, I would like to highlight how our University, which has joined the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment - CoARA, is active on the European tables to contribute to a comprehensive reform of the research assessment system that, at the moment and not only in our country, in some cases excessively, and sometimes even exclusively, privileges quantitative indicators. Hence,” the Rector adds, “our commitment, well expressed in the mandate program, is not only aimed at recognizing the contribution of our faculty members in all the University's missions, but also at applying an evaluation, which, safeguarding the recognition of the quality of publications and interdisciplinary and international collaborations in research, enriches by considering their actual impact on society and the territory, on the basis of indicators that are not only quantitative.”
