Laura Valentina Socco elected vice-President of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers

During the 84th Annual Conference & Exhibition that took place in Vienna on June 5-8 2023, it was announced the election of Laura Valentina Socco – Full professor in Applied Geophysics at the Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering – as Vice-President of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) for the period June 2023 – June 2024. Prof. Socco will automatically become President of EAGE for the term 2024-2025.

In her presentation as a candidate, she focused especially on the “new opportunities that will generate in the energy transition industry, in the mineral resources field, in the environmental applications including climate engineering, and in the engineering activities”.

EAGE, founded in 1951 and counting 19.000+ members from 110 different Countries, aim to promote the development and application of geosciences and related engineering subjects, to promote innovation and technical progress and to foster the communication, fellowship and cooperation between those working in, studying or otherwise being interested in these fields.
