Japanese Consul visits the Politecnico for Biennale Tecnologia
As part of Biennale Tecnologia 2022, which just ended with great public success, the “Italy - Japan Conversations on Science and Technology” were projected for the first time, an initiative of the Japan Hub Polito organised by Prof. Claudia Cassatella.
These consisted of seven dialogues between Japanese and Politecnico researchers on the scientific interest that unites them and the challenges they are facing. The issues addressed included the robotics of services, the development of new materials, the prevention of natural risks, the culture of landscape and gardens, and social innovation in rural areas, in the design of public spaces and cities.
The initiative was launched Friday, 11 November, in Turin in the presence of the Consul General of Japan in Milan Yuji Amamiya and with a speech (live from Tokyo) by the Italian Ambassador Gianluigi Benedetti.
After the introduction by the Rector Guido Saracco and his Delegate for International Relations with Asian Countries Michele Bonino, Prof. Cassatella and Prof. Makoto Yokohari of the University of Tokyo presented the Conversations to the Biennale audience. Consul General Amamiya and Ambassador Benedetti expressed their satisfaction with such an important event, certain that it will contribute to further strengthening relationships between the two countries. The Consul, in particular, underlined how Turin, through its twin-city relationship with the City of Nagoya, the Museum of Oriental Art (MAO), and numerous cultural and scientific initiatives, is a very active reference point in building a bridge between the two cultures.
The Conversations can be viewed on the Politecnico’s YouTube channel at this link.
