A new European Master of Science program on sustainable manufacturing

The evolution of societies and industries towards a “greener” model is expected to create more than 1 million jobs by 2030, in Europe. Today, 70% of companies report that they cannot find personnel with appropriate skills.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Manufacturing 4.0 by intElligent and susTAinable technologies – meta 4.0 –  has been designed, in close collaboration with the most important European manufacturing companies, to respond to the needs of society and of the labour market.

meta4.0 is an MSc programme jointly offered by Politecnico together with 5 European universities: Ecole Centrale de Lyon, National School of Engineers of Saint-Étienne, Mines Saint-Etienne, Technical University of Chemnitz, University of Ljubljana, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. This program has one primary objective: training a new generation of engineers with excellent multidisciplinary skills and knowledge to meet the future challenges of Manufacturing 4.0. Four specialisation tracks are available: Digital Manufacturing, Clean Manufacturing, Sustainable Manufacturing and Smart Manufacturing.

Politecnico participates in meta4.0 with its MSc programme in Materials Engineering for Industry 4.0 and the Department of Applied Science and Technology-DISAT.

The first edition of the MSc meta4.0 will start at the end of August 2023 and will continue for four Academic Years. The Master is supported by the European Union, which will fund a total of 90 scholarships (more information and application procedure at https://www.master-meta4-0.eu/).

The project has been funded by the European program Erasmus+ – Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) – 2022, part of the Partnerships of Excellence within Key Action 2 - Cooperation among organisations and institutions.
