Politecnico di Torino continues its commitment to strengthening international relations with China's leading technical universities: on the 21st of September the University welcomed a delegation from the Dalian University of Technology (DUT), a prestigious Chinese public university based in the port city of Dalian, led by its President Gao Xiang.

The delegation was welcomed by Deputy-Rector Elena Maria Baralis, Vice-Rector for Internationalization Alberto Giuseppe Sapora, Professor Roberto Zanino, Secretary General of the CLUSTER network, and Professor Fabrizio Bonani, PoliTO's representative within the SEEEP platform, of which DUT is a long-standing member. During the meeting at the Rectorate, the main research and training activities carried out by the Politecnico were presented, highlighting areas of potential synergy between the two universities.

The visit follows directly on from DUT's participation in the Europe-China Technical University Presidents Dialogue Forum and the 14th workshop of the Sino-European Engineering Education Platform (SEEEP), held in Turin last June, and is part of a broader process of rapprochement between the two institutions aimed at exploring new opportunities for collaboration in teaching and research, with particular attention to technological innovation and environmental sustainability.

During the meeting, a shared interest emerged in launching a structured collaboration, leading to the proposal to move forward with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities, as a first formal step toward consolidating a relationship of scientific and academic cooperation.

The second part of the visit included a site visit to the Environment Park, with stops at the CO2 Circle Lab and the BBB-Lab (Bioeconomy, Biofuels and Bioenergy Laboratory), accompanied by Profs. Silvia Bodoardo, Viviana Negro and Samir Bensaid, followed by a visit to the "Galileo Ferraris" Energy Department-DENERG and the CARS Interdepartmental Center - Center for Automotive Research and Sustainable Mobility, led by Professor Federico Millo.

President Gao showed particular interest in the activities presented, exploring in depth the topics of green fuels, electric mobility and sustainable energy technologies: during the visits, the possibility emerged of developing direct contacts between the research groups.

The meeting confirmed strong mutual interest in developing the collaboration between the two universities, which agreed to meet again at the 15th SEEEP workshop scheduled for May 2027, to be hosted by Tongji University, coinciding with the university's 120th anniversary.
