PoliTO in India alongside Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University

The Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University (DSU) is one of the youngest Indian universities – it was only established in 2021 on the initiative of its founder and Rector, Shri. A. Srinivasan – and it is the fastest-growing one, with its three campuses hosting over 40,000 students in the Tamil Nadu region.
Politecnico has forged strong ties with this university thanks to the work of Professor Lamberto Rondoni of "G.L. Lagrange" Department of Mathematical Sciences - DISMA, and DISMA researcher Santo Banerjee. Their activity led to the recent signing of a "Memorandum of Understanding" between the two universities, aiming to activate international exchanges between Italian and Indian students, but above all, to open DSU to its second mission: the field of research.
For this purpose, Professor Rondoni visited the campus of the Indian University in Perambalur from June 20 to 25, for the signing of the agreement and to attend the inauguration of DSU's first research center, specifically in Mathematical Sciences. This marks the beginning of the collaboration between Politecnico and DSU, which foresees the activation of other research centers in strategic areas for both universities.
Until now, DSU had been a university with an exclusively educational vocation, offering a wide multidisciplinary range of courses spanning from medicine to agricultural sciences, from human sciences to Architecture and all fields of Engineering, from which Politecnico decided to begin this new partnership.
"I had the opportunity to visit all areas of DSU's work and to meet the founder and Rector Shri. A. Srinivasan," explains Professor Rondoni. He added, "I was struck by this young university's strong will to open up to research and international relations, yet possessing significant resources in a rapidly growing country like India. It is significant that this collaboration starts from mathematics, the foundation for all scientific disciplines and a true common language that unites the global academic community”. Professor Rondoni concluded, "In the perspective of expanding Politecnico's internationalization strategy, we will work together for a long and fruitful collaboration between our two entities".
