Biography

My research focuses on the role of public art in the adaptive reuse of waterfront industrial heritage, examining its capacity to shape urban transformation, activate public space, and function as a catalyst within placemaking processes. Through a comparative perspective between China and Europe—with a particular focus on Shanghai—I investigate how public art operates as both a cultural strategy and a socially embedded process in post-industrial contexts. A central component of my work is the development of evaluation frameworks to systematically assess the multidimensional impacts of public art on urban regeneration.

At the same time, I am particularly interested in participatory public art as a mechanism for community engagement, exploring its role in heritage-led regeneration and the construction of place identity. My recent research extends into practice-based inquiry at the intersection of participatory public art, climate change, and community resilience. My research examines how participatory public art transforms climate and heritage conservation knowledge into lived, participatory practices. By embedding these practices in everyday life, it enables the public to actively engage in climate action within heritage communities, contributing to the development of community resilience.
