Biography

Mahta Khorramian is a Doctoral Researcher in Management and Production Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. Building on a Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering for Industry 4.0, her previous research in additive manufacturing investigated how surface post-treatments optimize the mechanical and structural properties of titanium alloys to meet rigorous industrial standards. This academic foundation in materials science and advanced manufacturing systems now drives her specialized work in process optimization and high-performance component development.
Currently, her PhD research focuses on Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) and their processability via metal additive manufacturing technologies like Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) and Directed Energy Deposition (DED). Inspired by natural structures like bone, she seeks to develop single-component architectures with site-specific properties to minimize stress concentrations and interface failures. Her work integrates design of experiments and data-driven approaches, including Python-based analysis and machine learning, to optimize process parameters and predictive modeling. Mahta’s long-term objective is to enable the industrial adoption of sustainable, high-performance additive manufacturing components across the aerospace, biomedical, and automotive sectors.
