Biography

Assistant Professor (RTDA) at Politecnico di Torino, Department of Applied Science and Technology. Holds a Master’s and Ph.D. in Chemistry, specializing in Physical Chemistry of Colloids, from the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil, with a sandwich doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany. Postdoctoral fellowship at the University of São Paulo's Institute of Chemistry and as a visiting postdoctoral researcher at CIC Biomagune, Spain. Experience as a Scientist in American industry and start-up companies, and active in innovation and entrepreneurship programs at São Paulo University. Research focuses on nano-bio interface interactions to regulate biophysical-chemical functions, particularly enzymes, using LSPR-enhanced mechanisms to trigger bioactivity. Pioneered studies in plasmonic biocatalysis, aiming for efficient, sustainable, and non-invasive solutions in applied biocatalysis and nanomedicine. The main research interests involve: - Plasmonic biocatalysis - regulation of enzyme functions immobilized on plasmonic nanoparticles controlled by external light irradiation; - LSPR-enhanced mechanisms to trigger bioactivity for different kinds of reactions; - Biophysicochemical interactions at the nano-bio interface between nanoparticles and biomolecules; - Biomedical applications of nanobioconjugates, such as biosensors and cancer theragnostics.
