Biography

Michele Beccaria (Member, IEEE) earned his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. (cum laude) in Electrical, Electronic, and Telecommunication Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2013, 2015, and 2019, respectively. Since 2019, he has worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications at Politecnico di Torino, and in 2023, he became an Assistant Professor. His research primarily focuses on designing innovative Reflectarrays, Transmitarrays, and Smart Electromagnetic Surfaces, with emphasis on optimization techniques and manufacturing processes. In 2017–2018, he was a visiting Ph.D. at Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) under the supervision of Prof. Fan Yang’s. He has received several honors, including the 2019 IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter Thesis Awards with the Best Ph.D. Thesis Antennas and Propagation Society for the thesis “Design of Innovative Reflectarray and Transmitarray Antennas.” Dr. Beccaria has coauthored about 50 journal articles and conference papers and two invited book chapters. He regularly participates in numerous international conferences, such as the IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (AP-S URSI), and the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), in some cases as Invited Speaker in Special Sessions. He is member of the Technical Program Committee of the IEEE International Conference on Communications and Electronics (2018-2024). Dr. Beccaria serves as regular reviewer for the most prestigious journals in the field.
