Biography

Gianmario Pellegrino, (M2003, SM2013) Ph.D., is Professor of Power Converters, Electrical Machines and Drives at the Politecnico di Torino (PoliTO), Turin, Italy. He is engaged in several research projects with the industry in the fields of electric motors design and control of electrical drives, including the open-source platform SyR-e for the design and characterization of electrical motors blending sizing equations, fast-FEA approaches and optimization algorithms. Over his career, Dr. Pellegrino was a visiting fellow at Aalborg University, Denmark, the University of Nottingham, UK, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. He is an IEEE Senior Member and an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, among many other services to IEEE Journals and Conferences. He has 50+ IEEE journal papers, a few patents and eight Best Paper Awards. He is one of the founding members of the PEIC, the Power Electronics Innovation Center of PoliTO, and a member of the Advisory Board of PCIM Europe. He is currently the Rector’s Advisor for the Interdepartmental Centres of PoliTO.
