The Thematic area focuses on enhancing the identity and economies related to the historical-artistic-architectural and environmental cultural heritage, with reference to tangible and intangible cultural elements, either punctual or widespread on the territory.
The objectives of the thematic area are the research and design of products, services and processes aimed at improving the user experience, also in multi-ethnic and multi-cultural contexts, through methodologies and approaches capable of triggering processes of regeneration and valorisation of the territory.
The thematic macro-area is articulated into research and design sub-areas that the PhD disciplines address in an interdisciplinary manner:
- physical, cognitive and cultural accessibility to cultural and environmental heritage in the perspective of enhancing the user experience with the support of analogue and digital tools;
- strategies, services and products for the revitalisation of local craftsmanship systems and supply chains;
- low environmental impact technologies consistent with the challenges posed by the energy transition for the recovery and enhancement of the existing built heritage, both ancient and modern, in fragile contexts and in disused areas;
- corporate and professional archives for the valorisation of the industrial/craft memory consisting of products, tools and building constructions;
- museum set-ups and events designed according to parameters of comfort (lighting, acoustics, air quality) and environmental sustainability (energy, waste).
