Abstract

The project aims at implementing an innovative technology to recreate conditions of reduced gravity for the simulated orbital flight of an autonomous artificial satellite simulator in three degrees of freedom, two translational and one rotational, using a pressurized system and appropriate bearings that allow the simulator to float on a flat surface. This surface, formed by a monolithic block of granite, will also be able to tilt through a control algorithm and, consequently, to control the gravitational gradient to which the simulator is subject, allowing the realization of tests in variable reduced gravity. The Team will take care of the realization of mathematical models of the simulator, laws of Guide, Navigation and Control, and a mathematical model of variation of the gravitational gradient on which the control algorithm will be based. It will be tested first on a scale model of the plane already present in the laboratory and then implemented in the full-scale prototype. The project will end with the experimentation of the technology for main industrial applications it could have and the drafting of a final report detailing the results obtained and the future impact that the technology developed may have.
