Dr. Elettra Ugliono graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Torino in 2014, with an experimental thesis entitled "Sleeve gastrectomy and gastroesophageal reflux disease: a physiopathologic study", and specialized in General Surgery with honors at the University of Torino in 2021 with a thesis entitled "Laparoscopic antireflux surgery for refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease: long-term clinical outcomes"
Dr. Ugliono is currently attending the second year of the Interatheneum Doctoral School in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences, in collaboration with the Politecnico di Torino, with a project aiming to develop patient-derived bio-engineered esophageal tissue, that could be used to develop in vitro models of esophageal diseases for research purposes (carcinogenesis, cytotoxicity studies and response to chemotherapy), and prosthetic devices for esophageal replacement in humans.
Since years, Dr.Ugliono has been primarly involved in the diagnosis and treatment of functional oesophageal-gastric disorders, esophagogastric malignancies, and bariatric surgery.
