Biografia

PhD student at Politecnico di Torino since November 2023 (39th cycle) in the NETGROUP research group. I received my master's degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in the same year after defending my thesis' work titled "Assessing the Impact of Linux Networking on CPU Resources".
During my PhD, I'm focusing my research efforts around the field of next generation software architectures and technologies to unlock high-performance networking in datacenter environments. High-speed and low-latency large scale interconnects are in fact becoming increasingly valuable for a number of modern applications, ranging from scientific HPC to AI, where GPU accelerators are being held back by the slower "scale-out" connections and subpar congestion control of Ethernet and InfiniBand networks; research in this area is crucial to lift these limitations and enable the next generation of datacenter applications.
Notable examples of highly relevant topics are low level software architectures of the Linux kernel's network stack (along with related technologies such as eBPF), data plane SmartNIC/RDMA offload solutions, high-throughput kernel bypass with AF_XDP or DPDK, as well as datacenter-specific paradigms like cloud-native software development.

Outside of my main academic interests, I've always been attracted by the world of rendering and computer graphics, which made me approach the field of IT in the first place. Apart from computer-related matters, I'm very passionate about music, which I like experiencing both as a listener and as a player thanks to my years of experience on guitar.
