Biografia

I am currently pursuing a PhD at the Polytechnic of Turin within the ALl-Polymer research group, under the supervision of Prof. Alberto Frache and Prof. Rossella Arrigo. My PhD project focuses on developing a scientific methodology for the characterization of plastic materials, with the aim of facilitating their reuse after undergoing various degradation processes.
Specifically, the research aims to analyse the degradation processes experienced by different polymeric materials in various environments and conditions to identify the most effective recycling strategies. A key aspect of the project is the evaluation of the influence of other materials, fillers, and additives on the properties of recycled polymers, with a particular focus on processing technologies such as compounding, extrusion, and injection molding. For all studied materials, formulation optimization will be carried out through the analysis of structure-processing relationships. The project also includes the production of components using different transformation technologies and the subsequent assessment of the mechanical and functional properties of recycled materials, investigating their microstructure and morphology.
My academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in Energy Engineering at the Polytechnic of Turin, followed by a master's degree in Materials Engineering, which I completed with a final grade of 109/110. After my master's degree, I worked for two years as a research fellow within the European MINAGRIS project (Horizon 2020), whose aim is to evaluate micro- and nanoplastics in agricultural soils. Within this research, I focused on the qualitative and quantitative assessment of macro-, meso- and nanoplastics using various characterization techniques.
