Abstract

Keeping a stable, motivated and productive workforce is key to any manufacturing industry and to all EU countries in view of the EU ageing workforce. The integration of ergonomics at the early design phase through virtual simulation is the only viable solution to optimize human well-being and overall system performance. Reliable and yet lean software tools are needed for efficiently analyzing the interaction between the workplace and the potential worker population and for addressing and mitigating the impacts of specific human individual characteristics (gender, aging, physical parameters...). The D-HUMMER project will provide a simulation solution capable to support the early workplace and workcycle design through a complete digital off-line process, supporting in the meanwhile the automatic ergonomics assessment on the simulated model with the complete integration of human workers modeling. Addiition to hybrid human-robot working environment will also be evaluated in the project use-cases.
